Placeworks brings together artists, teachers, students and communities.

Missouri's exemplary Placeworks Arts Outreach program for rural schools is now accepting application for the 2015-16 school year. There are no costs to selected participants, only a willingness to work with a regional artist on engaging students in community-based arts. The application can be accessed here.

Placeworks was founded by Springfield, Mo artist, Kate Baird, who was inspired by a similar program she participated in New York City. Funded by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks' Rural Schools Partnership, the program has introduced hundreds of rural Ozarks children to talented regional artists. Their projects have traversed the artistic landscape, but common themes are "community" and a public display of students' work.
