The Caesar Rodney School District was designated a 2019 Green Ribbon school by the US Department of Education for its commitment to offering effective sustainability education and reducing the school’s environmental impact. The district is leading on sustainability in Delaware, as each school in the district has its own student-led EcoTeam, ensuring that all students from pre-K to 12th grade have “an outlet to share and work out their ideas for Delaware green schools.” Student-led reforms include the implementation of share tables in cafeterias to reduce food waste and the installation and renovation of outdoor classrooms and community gardens.
