This week's Sustainability Saturday comes from one of our favorite small towns in America, Decorah, Iowa! Decorah is home to Luther College, which is where our Sustainability Policy Intern, Leif Saveraid, is enrolled.

In a partnership between the Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness Initiative and the Oneonta Community Co-Op, students from Decorah, West Union, and Postville were able to participate in F.E.E.S.T.: Food Empowerment Education Sustainability Teams. The students create a food menu without recipes and use sustainable ingredients from the local co-op. The teams learn important cooking skills and the importance of using sustainable ingredients. At the end of the program students will have a chance to serve their meals to Iowa policymakers, allowing the students to connect with their representatives and discuss local issues.
