KOSHKONONG TRAILS TO PARTNER WITH PLACE SCHOOLS NETWORK
By JENNIFER SCIANNA, CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL DISTRICT
At a recent Koshkonong Trails School Governance Board Planning Meeting, the Governance Board officially voted to become a network partner school for the Place Network Schools, an innovative new program provided by Teton Science Schools. By entering into this partnership, Koshkonong Trails will serve as a model school for their neighbors in implementing place-based education through projects, personalized learning pathways, competency-based assessment, and personal development. In return, the staff and Governance Board at Koshkonong Trails will receive added professional development and support through the network during their initial years and beyond.
The Governance Board chose to pursue this partnership for several reasons. Principally, they felt that the ideals of the Place Schools Network align closely to the vision and mission that Koshkonong Trails set out to attain in its inception. By expanding the support network of Koshkonong Trails, there are more opportunities for creative and innovative practices to bloom in the work that we accomplish with students. Additionally, the Place Network Schools is highly focused on student achievement in all areas and will work with Koshkonong Trails to dig deep into their data to ensure all students are college and career ready when they are ready to leave the school as seniors.
We are thrilled to have been presented the opportunity for collaboration by Rural Schools Collaborative and Place Schools Network, and we look forward to the possibilities as the year progresses!
