Rural Schools Collaborative extends condolences to the family of Dr. Arthur Mallory, who passed away at the age of 92.

Dr. Mallory was President of Missouri State University from 1964-1971 before serving as Missouri's Commissioner of Education for 16 years. He was a national leader in the development of special education legislation and the Parents as Teachers program.

Dr. Mallory was also influential in the establishment of the Rural Schools Collaborative. As a board member of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, Dr. Mallory was largely responsible for initiating the Foundation's Rural Schools Partnership, which was the forerunner to RSC's work nationally.

“Dr. Mallory was a mentor and friend to RSC's founding director, Gary Funk. I've had the privilege to learn alongside both of them during my tenure, and RSC as it stands today would not be possible without Arthur's vision.”

Dr. Mallory continued to support Rural Schools Collaborative throughout the years, and will be sincerely missed.
