Central Illinois Rural School Partnership/ Media Release
On June 15, school, community, and university leaders from central Illinois will convene to discuss a new rural partnership network. Dr Gary Funk will kick off the discussion by sharing the work of the Rural School Collaborative and emerging programs across the United States. Then, state and local leaders will share examples of work in progress and discuss opportunities for the future.
The effort is the culmination of a yearlong series of regional discussions that was supported with funding from the Rural School Collaborative. Local Illinois representatives attended convenings in Missouri and South Dakota hosted by the Rural School Collaborative to learn how others have been building partnerships for rural schools and communities.
Please share this information with ANYONE interested in developing long term collaborations between rural schools and their communities (educators, non-profit organizations, community members, churches, political leaders, etc.).
