FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Rural Schools Collaborative welcomes Julia Levine as Communications and Narrative Coordinator
Madison, WI — September 2019
Rural Schools Collaborative is proud to announce our new Communications and Narrative Coordinator, Julia Levine.
As Communications and Narrative Coordinator, Julia will develop digital content for RSC as well as coordinate communications for the organization. She will produce stories, features, and news content, and take a lead role in the narrative development of the soon-to-be enhanced “I am a Rural Teacher” campaign (special announcement coming soon!).
Julia received her B.A. from University of Wisconsin-Madison in Geography and Environmental Studies, with minors in African-American Studies and Photography. While at UW, she interviewed and photographed over 20 racial justice organizers around Wisconsin and compiled these portraits into an exhibition, which displayed in May 2018. She previously served as an intern and board member of the Wisconsin Network for Peace, Justice, and Sustainability; a network connecting over 100 non-profit organizations across the state. In this capacity, she created multimedia content for the organization by profiling member-groups. She has received multiple grants and awards for her work as an oral historian and photographer. Her passion for weaving together photography and film with personal narratives extends back a decade, since she first picked up a camera.
As a lifelong Madisonian, Julia is very involved in the community, finding meaning as a community organizer, organic farmer, and public artist. She’s excited to be joining the team at RSC to develop powerful content that represents the voices of rural educators.
