Rural Schools Collaborative is thrilled to announce a new team member, Megan Cremeans of Nelsonville, OH. Megan will be serving as the Managing Director for the Rural Teacher Corps program.

“Having grown up and worked in rural communities, I’ve seen just how essential educators are, not only to student success, but to the strength and future of entire regions. Rural teachers do more than teach - they lead, inspire, and help sustain the communities they call home. I’m honored to support a national network that believes in the power of rural schools and is committed to preparing and retaining educators who are deeply rooted in place.”

Megan earned her undergraduate degrees from Miami University, where she studied Integrated Social Studies Education and Political Science. She later completed both an M.A and J.D. at The Ohio State University, driven by a desire to combine education, legal advocacy, and policy in meaningful ways. Along the way, she’s taught in high school and university classrooms, led community projects, and helped shape programs that invest in educators who want to make a difference.

Megan previously served as the Director of Public-Private Partnerships at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, a rural-serving regional philanthropic organization with over 700 charitable funds and 14 geographic affiliate foundations. She led the funding and management of strategic initiatives, including an educator fellowship program serving more than 100 educators across 32 counties.

In this role, Megan will help grow and support teacher preparation programs that are rooted in community, equity, and long-term impact.

With Megan’s knowledge of rural educator networks, policy, and philanthropy, her leadership could not have come at a better time,” says Taylor McCabe-Juhnke, RSC Executive Director. “Her deep commitment to rural education is well-suited for the work ahead, and we are excited for her to join the team.

Welcome, Megan! Please feel free to reach out to Megan and welcome her aboard!
