Centerpoint School District Solar Plant

Amity, Arkansas
Pop. 723

The Centerpoint School District has partnered with Scenic Hill Solar to build a 1.04 megawatt solar power plant that will be used to power 100% of the school district’s operations. The power plant is expected to save the school district around $40,000 annually. Over 2,500 solar panels will produce more than 44.29 million kilowatt-hours of electricity over the next 30 years. It is projected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 30,753 metric tons.

The Centerpoint School District wanted to take advantage of the recent bi-partisan passage of Arkansas’ The Solar Access Act of 2019, which removed major regulatory barriers to the state’s solar market. The plant is expected to be operational in late 2020.
