Sustainability Saturday: School Gardens in Rhode Island

The 4th grade students at Hope Valley Elementary work hard to prepare and maintain their school garden. They students cleaned the area and mapped out the planting, continually weeded and watered the garden throughout the growing season, and eventually harvested the produce from their garden. The students gave back to their own community by donating all of the harvested good to the needy and elderly in the area. The students learned how to cultivate a productive vegetable garden as well as recognizing the importance of community service.
