The team at the American Exchange Project is about to launch the nation’s first free domestic exchange program. Through this program, high school students can spend two weeks in an American town that is very different from their own during the summer after their senior year. Students will build connections, cultivate empathy, and learn a bit more about different cultures and lifestyles.

The hope is that this program might build a generation of connected and engaged Americans, and help unify our divided society. AEP will run a trial of its exchange this summer and will launch the program in 40 towns during the upcoming school year. They are still recruiting new towns and schools.
