My name is Alaw Jones and I'm an NQT at Ysgol Brynrefail in North Wales. I teach Science for pupils from year 7 to year 11. For KS3 (Year 7-9) I teach Science as a whole subject which includes practical lessons and an aspect of Physics, Biology and Chemistry. For KS4 (Year 10 and 11), I mainly concentrate on Biology, Chemistry and practical skills.

I spent my last teaching practice in Ysgol Brynrefail and I was delighted when I gained a post there shortly after. The school is very similar to a school I attended as a pupil, regarding the strong feeling of welcomeness and the Welsh language alive in every corridor. Ysgol Brynrefail is situated in a small Welsh village called Llanrug which is surrounded by picturesque mountains. Although many of the children's first language is Welsh, we teach bilingually in our school.

I am a Chemistry graduate from Bangor University and my love for the subject encouraged me to pursue a teaching profession as I wanted to pass this love on to others.
