Community shares school spirit during closures
We are asking rural communities to share how COVID-19 is impacting them and how teachers and teacher-leaders are adapting in the face of nationwide school closures. Read below for a great story from Brian Tonniges of Polk, NE.
"Aaron Rohde was one of the teacher leaders that asked families to put the Storm logo in their windows. Then he is encouraging families to go on a 'Cruise Night' and try to spot as many Storm signs as possible.
Kristi Lindburg and Tab Rieken drove by their students' houses with signs letting them know they missed them. They also organized a teacher parade. Teachers drove to all three communities with signs and honked and waved at students.
The parade was done after the school 'day' was over. Teachers are spending numerous hours preparing learning packets, on-line learning and consistently connecting with students during the day either via Zoom or telephone."
