Josie is originally from Cascade, Iowa and that is where her love for education and rural living began. She has spent her career in a diverse array of education, including teaching agriculture education at Aplington-Parkersburg High School and Cascade High School before she left Iowa to join her husband on his career with the United States Navy. While following her husband's duty stations, Josie taught middle school biology in Takoma Park, Maryland and was then an academic advisor at University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Josie has a bachelor's degree in agriculture education from Iowa State University and a master's degree in agriculture education, communications, and leadership from The Ohio State University. Josie is excited to be back home in Iowa and continue to uplift education across the region.
