Julia is excited to use her passion and prior experience to support Rural Schools Collaborative and help make a positive impact in rural communities.

Julia was born and raised in rural Wisconsin, and she credits her former teachers for showing her the value of education as well as nurturing her affinity for writing. This helped shape her undergraduate career, as she graduated with highest honors from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse with a bachelor’s degree in English.

After graduation, Julia has worked in both the non-profit and government sectors. While completing a year of service through AmeriCorps, Julia led marketing and fundraising initiatives for a rural dental clinic and secured over $1,000,000 in grant funding for her organization. She also served as the Communications Specialist for the Sauk County Health Department, where she took the lead on multimedia campaigns as part of grant objectives and deliverables, created and executed the department’s annual communications strategy, and captured client stories and testimonials. Both experiences allowed her to gain invaluable experience with project management, varied forms of communication, and grant writing.

When she’s not reading or writing, Julia likes to go on nature walks and spend time with friends and family.
