Lacey Skorepa, Communications Manager, Rock Island, IL

April 4, 2022 |

Lacey Skorepa joined the Rural Schools Collaborative team as the Communications Manager in April of 2022. Born and raised in the greater Quad Cities, Lacey earned a Bachelor of Arts in English & Philosophy from Western Illinois University before obtaining her Master of Arts in English from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. A professor for almost 10 years, she has taught Composition, Literature, and Film courses for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Wayne State University, and St. Ambrose University.

While pursuing her PhD in Detroit, she began working with community organizations, including the Detroit Public Library and a university-funded film organization, discovering a passion for working with underserved and underrepresented communities.

Since returning to the Quad Cities, Lacey has served as a volunteer for Humility Homes and Services, as the communications and event coordinator for DeLaCerda House, and as the Manager of Communications & Programs for Dress for Success Quad Cities, helping to connect people and communities to vital resources through communication and education. She is thrilled to be part of the RSC team!

Lacey is an empowerment advocate who is passionate about creating and communicating learning opportunities, fostering connections and engaging community through knowledge sharing.

She is a podcast addict and coffee connoisseur who firmly believes that the best vacations and travel trips are road trips (liminal spaces with infinite possibility and magical mischief).

When she's not in the office, you can find her in her veggie garden, planning next year's veggie garden, or playing with her pup, Zorya.
