Megan Cremeans is a Southeast Ohio native who brings energy, authenticity, and a deep commitment to rural education to her role as Managing Director of the Rural Teacher Corps. Raised in a rural and Appalachian community, she knows firsthand how powerful great teachers can be in building strong communities.
Megan earned her undergraduate degrees from Miami University, where she studied Integrated Social Studies Education and Political Science. She later completed both an M.A and J.D. at The Ohio State University, driven by a desire to combine education, legal advocacy, and policy in meaningful ways. Along the way, she’s taught in highschool and university classrooms, led community projects, and helped shape programs that invest in educators who want to make a difference.
Megan previously served as the Director of Public-Private Partnerships at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, a rural-serving regional philanthropic organization with over 700 charitable funds and 14 geographic affiliate foundations. She led the funding and management of strategic initiatives, including an educator fellowship program serving more than 100 educators across 32 counties.
In her current work, Megan helps grow and support teacher preparation programs that are rooted in community, equity, and staying power. She believes rural teachers are essential - not just to student success, but to the long-term strength of entire regions. When she’s not working, Megan’s likely hunting for a good used bookstore, catching a live show, or laughing with friends all over the country.
