About Us

How we started. What we do.

The Rural Schools Collaborative was envisioned during an early summer 2014 planning meeting in St. Louis and incorporated as a 501-c-3 nonprofit later that year. RSC was formally launched in the spring of 2015 with its inaugural Grants in Place program.

The organization's mission is to build sustainable rural communities through a keen focus on place, teachers, and philanthropy. RSC's mission is realized through four signature efforts: The Place Network, Rural Teacher Corps, Grants in Place, and Impact Philanthropy.

The organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors and supported by a small professional staff. RSC's Regional Hubs also provide Hub Contacts who facilitate shared work.

Our Team

Rural Schools Collaborative maintains a small operational footprint to support our programs and partnerships. Meet the RSC team!

Board of Directors

RSC's volunteer Board of Directors provide strategic leadership and direction for our work. These rural champions make up RSC's governing body, and are integral to our work.

Regional Hubs

RSC's Regional Hub Network is made up of rural-serving organizations doing incredible boots-on-the-ground work with rural schools and communities. Having caring partners across the country means our core team remains small, but our impact is big.

Donors

As a small, grassroots organization, we rely on support from individuals and organizations to enact our mission. Thank you to our donors and partners!

Young Educators Advisory Council

The Young Educators Advisory Council is made up of outstanding early-career rural educators from our Regional Hub partner sites. They advise RSC on our work, and share stories, resources, and encouragement for other rural teachers.

Making Our Case
