During the school year our elementary students, grades Pk-6, meet every morning before school in our old gym for morning announcements, recognize birthdays, and honor DT I CARE kids, our positive behavior program. We then do the pledge of allegiance as a group before going to our classrooms. Even during this time of separation, our elementary principal, Rod Engel, has continued to live stream to all the elementary households and teachers the morning announcements, lunch menu (since we are providing lunch/breakfast), birthdays, and he recognizes kids who have been nominated by their teachers for excellent work in this time of going remote. He then invites all to say the pledge with him before signing-off and letting teachers begin their day. Sometimes, he chooses to do it in unique ways. Last Thursday was his Shrek Day. Rod Engel, going beyond!
