Sustainability Saturday: Growing Veggies in Louisiana

Kindergarten students at the Southeastern Lab School in Hammond, LA engage in environmental actions through the Green Cub Club and this last school year they participated in a project utilizing the school greenhouse and learning about sustainable gardening. Along with middle school students, they rooted potatoes and planted numerous vegetables. When school resumes in the fall, they are looking forward to enjoying their school greenhouse’s harvest. This project was the USGBC Louisiana Green Schools Challenge People’s Choice Award Winner.
