Helo, fy enw i yw Cadi / My name is Cadi. I’m currently an NQT in Ysgol Brynrefail, North Wales, teaching Welsh. It was my passion for the Welsh language, its culture and history that led me to the teaching profession, as well as my interest in interacting with children and young people. I am lucky to be able to work in such a beautiful, rural part of North Wales, where the sense of community is strong, and where the Welsh language plays a very important role in that community.

Ysgol Brynrefail is a bilingual school with nearly 800 pupils, including the sixth form here. Most of the students come from nearby villages in the local catchment area. As I mentioned earlier, the sense of being part of a Welsh community is very important to the staff and pupils here, and it’s certainly a fundamental reason for my enjoyment of being part of that community so much. Certainly, one of the things I enjoy most about teaching in such a close knitted school is the fantastic relationships between staff and the personal element of being able to know the children so well. I am grateful to have learned so much since starting my NQT year here.
