2021-22 Action Plan—Approved by the Rural Schools Collaborative board of directors during their August 26, 2021 board meeting
Through a keen focus on place, teachers, and philanthropy, RSC’s mission is to build sustainable rural communities. In order to hold our organization accountable and keep us driven towards our mission, action plans have been a long standing initiative taken on by RSC board members since our launch in 2015. Under the leadership of current board chair Joshua Gibb, the board approved the following action plan for our current fiscal year.
- RSC will execute the National Rural Imperative grant projects to amplify the voices of rural teachers in partnership with NREA and regional hubs.
Staff will complete planning phases that will expand the I Am a Rural Teacher Campaign to launch Rural Educators Across Borders, First Year Rural Teacher Resiliency Guide, Rural Job Board, and Regional Policy Playbooks.
As part of the grant and our partnership with NREA, RSC will also drive attendance, synergy, and support of the National Forum to Advance Rural Education to deepen our existing partnerships and elevate rural teacher voices who have historically been underrepresented.
- RSC staff will implement Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Committee recommendations on organizational language and internal evaluation and accountability.
Along with revisiting our statement of solidarity to better the implementation of our committee's goals, our team will also be participating in an Inclusive Excellence training experience offered by our partners at Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
Engage and strengthen Regional Hub partnerships by staffing and launching the newly established Regional Hub Committee.
Complete RSC Spring Strategic Planning with a focus on Asset Development.
As a collaborative, we know that we are strongest when we work together. Our team, alongside our partners, are going to take the necessary steps to hold ourselves accountable in reaching our current goals. Everyone at RSC looks forward to sharing our progress and accomplishments!
